My Picks for UFC 83: Serra vs. St. Pierre 2

serra.jpg

So here we go.....
Main Card:
Main Event : Matt Serra vs. George St. Pierre :St. Pierre
10. Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter :Lutter
9.Kaleb Starnes vs. Nate Quarry :Starnes
8.Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy :McCarthy
7.Mark Bocek vs. Mac Danzig :Danzig
Preliminary Card:
6.Jason MacDonald vs. Joe Doerkson :Doerkson
5.Alan Belcher vs. Jason Day :Belcher
4.Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia :Maia
3.Sam Stout vs. Rich Clementi :?
2.Brad Morris vs. Cain Velasques :who cares
1.Kuniyoshi Hironaka vs. Jonathan Goulet :Hironaka

11. Matt Serra vs. George St. Pierre
Even though this is the main event, I think fans are going to be kind of disappointed. As much as I want Serra to win, I think St.Pierre is the kind of guy who feeds off of a previous loss and will come out hungrier and sharper than ever. I'm picking GSP by GNP round 2.

10. Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter
For every new fan out there, and UFC bandwagon riders, this fight has disaster written on it for Rich Franklin. I'm picking a huge upset by Travis Lutter. I see him getting the take down passing the guard and finishing with a submission. Lutter by submission round #2.

9. Kaleb Starnes vs. Nate Quarry
Of course i have to go with my American Top Team teammate on this one and pick Kaleb Sarnes by Unanimous Decision by better boxing.

This weekend's Triathlon

DSCF0222.JPG

This weekend's Triathlon was great. It was an awesome way to get the tri season kicked off, because it was such a quick race. The tri was a 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run. I got 5th in my age group which is 20-24 years old. My brother Micah got 7th, while my friend Jason got 4th, and Bubby Mitchell received 16th place in the 25-30 age group. All in all, it was a fun event and was really cool to do it with my friends. I can't wait for the next one.

American Top Team goes 2-1 at UFN 13

pitbull.jpg

On wed. night of fights on Spike tv, the UFC brought the best card ever on cable television. I had three teammates fight: Din Thomas, Marcus Aurelio, and Thiago "Pitull" Alves.
Marcus Aurelio started the night off right with a win over Ryan Roberts with a big right hand followed by a SICK armbar. Way to go "Maximus".
Next up Din lost a hard fought battle to Josh Neer. There is no doubt in my mind Din will be back stronger than ever for the next one.
To close the night off for ATT, Thiago Alves, the only ATT fighter to make the television broadcast fought Karo Parisyan. Thiago came out slow in the first round, then let the hands and knees go in the second winning by a stunning tko!
American Top Team continues to be a force in the UFC and other MMA organizations. We will be the team of '08

1. Anthony Johnson vs. Tommy Speer (Welterweight) Speer

Main Event# 12. Florian vs. Lauzon
This bout is very interesting. You have the more skilled fighter in Kenny Florian, versus the fighter you can never count out, Joe Lauzon. In most cases skill usually wins but Lauzon is a smart fighter and always does well as the underdog. Im going to pick Lauzon by decision.

Bout #11. Alves vs. Parisyan
This is a matchup ive been wanting to happen for quite some time now. Naturally I'm most excited about this bout because I train with Thiago Alves. I have to go with Thiago on this one because i have always thought it would be the worst kind of matchup for Karo: a combination of power and precision in his striking mixed with the fact he can not be taken down. I'm picking Thiago Alves round two by Knockout.

Hey guys Thanks for coming to my site

PFC 7 California celebrating in the corner of my homie

The site just got launched, and I am very excited to get the chance to get in contact with all of you. I've been ridiculously busy as of late. A couple of weeks ago I was traveling with a few of my students to Georgia where they were set to fight and i was there to corner them. Both of my guys won and I was asked to do a Grappling match with a heavyweight whose opponent was a no-show. I accepted and submitted my opponent in about 4 minutes by rear naked choke. Following that I traveled to Leemore, California for the Palace Fighting Championships 7. My good friend Bubby Mitchell won in the first round by rear naked choke in the 125lb weight division. I was flying back home to Florida when i got stuck in Atlanta, Ga overnight. I found out there was a grappling tournament the next day so I figured, what the heck, ill stay another day and compete. I competed in the Absolute division. I won my first two fights by submission and lost in the finals by points. I finally made my way back down to Florida and its good to be home. Ill end this first blog with a big "THANK YOU" to all my fans for your continuous support. Be on the lookout for more blogs to come.
